Start out with soft: After having four wisdom teeth removed, your lower jaw, tongue, teeth, and lip will be numb. The back of your upper jaw on both sides will also be numb. I would recommend that you start out with soft food, and advance your diet as tolerated, staying away from extremely hot temperature foods and drinks while your mouth is still numb. I would also avoid nuts as they can get trapped in the sites.

Not oral surgeon: You likely did not have your extractions done by an oral surgeon - he/she would have given your written instructions on postop management. Start with soft foods, and advance as tolerated. No sharp foods like chips. Nut etc get stuck in socket. Your dentist can provide additional information.
