A member asked:

What vaccination should be given to a patient of rheumatoid arthritis on methotrexate?

Routine vaccinations: Methotrexate is not such a potent immunosuppressor that it should affect the vaccinations you receive. Other, stronger immune suppressing medications such as tnf inhibitors may prevent you from receiving certain "live virus" vaccines such as the zoster vaccine. No specific vaccines are recommended for patients receiving methotrexate, as it is a relatively mild immune suppressor.

See details: Patient on Methotrexate can take any vaccination in which the virus is killed (flu, pneumonia for example). Methotrexate should be stopped 2 months before receiving a live virus (shingles for example).
