A member asked:

About constipation ; how much stool content can our bowels hold ? in terms of very severe and chronic constipation, what would be excessive?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

I had a patient: Who had so much stool in her colon that it had pressed on the major nerve to the leg and caused leg paralysis (not a good idea!). The old medical literature records the case of a man who had a neurological disease and he would take his abdomen in a wheelbarrow to a hospital for clearance once a year. Constipation is common today because of poor diet.
