A member asked:

Can i get prescribed medication for severe menstrual cramps if i don't want birth control? if so, what are some safe meds?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Birth control pills (containing hormones) can be used to help other conditions besides birth control. The pills can help women with acne, frequent periods, heavy periods, etc... If one just wants non-hormonal medication for menstrual cramps, a primary care doctor or an ob-gyn doctor can help, after an evaluation to be sure nothing unusual is happening in the body.
