Treatment of Cholera: Mainstay is oral fluid replacement. The who has rehydration formulas (ors); in us pedialyte. Replacement based on severity of dehydration. Once rehydrated, volume of oral solution should match volume of stool out. Antibiotics are adjunct to ors & are given once vomiting stops & rehydration is completed. (tetracyclines, cipro, (ciprofloxacin) Erythromycin azithro) prevention key: sterile h2o/clean food/vaccine.
