Peutz-Jeghers Synd?: Dark brown spots on the lips may be the first manifestation of peutz-jehgers syndrome. While the spots are benign, the dangerous association is with polyps in the gastrointestinal tract that can become cancerous. A family history may help sort out the diagnosis. Lip biting, chapped lips and licking will not cause these melanotic macules.See a dermatologist, and have a colonoscopy.
