Pancreatitis: There are many different things that can cause pancreatitis - gallstones blocking gallbladder ducts, high triglycerides, alcoholism. Though there is genetic predisposition to get pancreatitis, lifestyle, most times, has a very large role. If you ever feel a pancreatitis attack (extreme nausea, pain above the stomach and in the back), report to your local er.

Rarely genetic: Most common causes of pancreatitis include gall stones that block the outlet of the pancrease, (pancrelipase) alcohol use, and side effect of medication. Less commonly is: idiopathic (meaning we do not yet know why it has occured), autoimmune, and genetic pancreatitis.
