A member asked:

I'm pretty sure i have herpetic rhinitis. how can my doctor diagnose me so i can get treatment?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Herpetic rhinitis: If there are grouped vesicles in area of infection, diagnosis often can be made clinically, however for a definitive diagnosis, a viral culture or pcr (test that looks for viral genetic material) can be done. Both of those take several days. Rhinitis can also have numerous other causes, like allergies, bacterial infection, etc. Please see your ENT doctor for a definitive diagnosis and treatment.
