High vascular tone: A narrow pulse pressure with diastolic hypertension suggests vasoconstriction and increased vascular tone (this typically defines the lower number (bottom) BP reading, whereas the cardiac output defines the upper number (systolic) reading. This BP reading if reproducible might indicate a need for antihypertensive trt.
