Colitis...: ...Is a general term of which crohn's disease is one type. Treatment for crohn's ranges from dietary modification and supplementation to salicylates to steroids to surgical treatment. As for colitis, it depends in the specific underlying cause - infectious causes are generally treated with antibiotics.

Very similar: Ulcerative colitis (uc) and crohn's disease are very similar and fall under the category of inflammatory bowel disease (ibd). They differ in that uc generally occurs in the colon and crohn's generally occurs in the small intestine. They are generally treated the same way with medications such as corticosteroids, Asacol (mesalamine) or similar meds, 6-mercaptopurine, and humira. See your doctor to discuss.
