Sensative index fingernail to little pressure, sometime hurts without pressure and extends to finger. finger not smashed, no infection.

Paronychia: Paronychia are low grade infections around the fingernail which have the symptoms you describe. They can be treated with topical bactroban (mupirocin) prescription ointment and/or oral antibiotics. They are fairly common and often take a few weeks to go away completely even with treatment.
