What test can they take to determine parkinson's?

Parkinson's : Parkinson's is a clinical diagnosis - meaning it is usually made by history and exam findings and typically consists of tremor, shuffling gait and slowness in movements. Some or all of the symptoms are presents for at least a few months and evident when examined. There are treatments available. Lab tests and imaging are performed to exclude other problems.

DaT scan: The diagnostic imaging technique (known as datscan) detects the presence of Dopamine transporters (dat) in the brain. The test provides detailed pictures of the brain’s Dopamine system and can assist in detecting patients with altered Dopamine transport. Scans of patients with parkinson’s disease will illustrate very low Dopamine levels. Have a discussion with your neurologist about this test.
