If your son is : phobic about trying new foods & no medical problem exists, he needs a child psychologist to search for a precipitating factor, like having gagged on a new food while anxious about your back surgery. Do not not to give him any negative or positive attention for food refusal, as that reinforces the behavior. Occupational & Speech/Language therapists work together to treat oral aversion.
