Premenstrual: In this instance, an irregular menstrual period may be coming which could be lighter than usual, or this may merely be premenstrual spotting that can occur prior to the onset of a period. The uterus responds to hormones produced from the ovary and has only two responses: to bleed or not bleed. Progesterone levels may be lower in this cycle.
