Arthrotec (diclofenac and misoprostol): Arthrotec (diclofenac and misoprostol) contains diclofenac, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, which blocks the production of prostaglandin, and misoprostol, a synthetic prostaglandin that stimulates the mucus secretion and protects the lining of the stomach. However, as diclofenac is a potent nsaid, its GI effect is not completely counterbalanced by misoprostol. Try taking a ppi med, such as prilosec, 30 min before meal.

NSAIDs with food: All NSAID anti-inflammatory meds (such as advil (ibuprofen) & motrin) can cause stomach irritation. Using smallest effective dose, and taking with food can help. Taking with another "antacid" can also help - arthotec is already a combination rx. You may wish to try another nsiad. There are also other medications for arthritis still hurting if nsaids fail. Lastly, consider non-traditinoal tx eg: acupuncture.
