Eat low sat fat diet: Do the best you can with eating low saturated fat diet, and exercising. Modest alcohol intake can decrease the LDL (bad cholesterol), one to two beers per day, for example. If the LDL remains very elevated, and you have other risks for getting heart disease, a statin medication might be indicated.

See below: Get to and stay at ideal body weight. Exercise some everyday. Don't smoke. Eat a vegetarian diet. If you're still severely elevated, medications such as statins are highly effective.
