A member asked:

Osteosarcoma and radiation - how does it work and what does it do to your bones?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Chronic irritation: Radiation injures the tissues and any type of injury that causes chronic inflammation or irritation can predispose the tissue to cancer. Osteosarcoma can appear in bones treated by radiation, most commonly 15-30 years after the initial radiation treatment.
