Not age, but reason!: Hysterectomy, removal of the uterus, is a major operation that can be done at any age -- if it is needed. Heavy bleeding not controlled by pills, shots, other hormones, or cooking the lining ('ablation') is a reason for surgery. Concern for cancer because of severely abnormal pap smear or uterus biopsy, or known cancer. Lastly, fallen uterus (prolapse) is another reason.
