COPD: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) encompasses several causes of lung obstruction often resulting in shortness of breath and wheezing. The causes include emphysema wherein the elasticity of the lung is impaired producing difficulty with exhalation. Severe emphysema can also cause low oxygen levels, heart failure, and death.
