When is it safe to take the bumper pads off of my crib?

Now: Bumper pads on cribs are not a necessity. In fact, they could pose a suffocation or entrapment risk to infants and toddlers. They may look cute because they match the room decor, but honestly, the risk of an infant suffocating or strangling is just not worth it. I would remove them now and urge other parents to not use them at all.

No pads: Bumper pads shouldn't be used at all. They can trap an infant between the pad and rails.
