Low self-esteem: When you have experienced a traumatic experience, some times you may believe you could have done more to help yourself and others. You may then believe you are inadequite, should have done more. So you say bad things about yourself. Then you have low self-esteem and voila you're depressed.

It may or may not be: Depression does not occur in all people w ptsd. After intense periods of hyperarousal - the individual becomes exhausted, amotivated & has decreased sex drive. Atypical depression is ^'ed w ptsd.
