Avoid and meds: The best treatment for animal allergies is to avoid the trigger (pet dander). While antihistamines can be helpful to decrease sneezing and itching, the congestion related to allergies is best treated with prescription nasal sprays such as qnasl, flonase, nasonex, (mometasone) etc. If symptoms become persistent, then allergy injections may be considered.
