Total of 52: 20 primary teeth, and 32 secondary teeth. Primary teeth are lost as the permanent teeth erupt. Adults will have 32.

Full set: A complete dentition is 20 baby teeth followed by 32 permanent teeth. Some people, a large minority, have 1 or more congenitally missing teeth, with wisdom teeth by far being the most likely to be missing.
