Anxiety Gag: This is a form of post-traumatic stress disorder. After an episode of choking or stomach flu, an anxious person may so worry about gagging that it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. See a therapist to address your issue, and you may find it helpful if your doctor can prescribe an ssri (like sertraline) for the anxiety/ocd. But see a GI if you have mechanical swallowing difficulty.
