What is the likelihood of death for a liver resection?

Depends on liver : Depends on which part of the liver, how much liver, and how much liver is available for reserve. Given that all of those are minor, there is liver in reserve, and it isn't a major resection, risk of death is around 1-3%.

Depends: It depends on the patient's general condition, previous operations, reason for resection, and type of resection planned. In the hands of an experienced hepatobiliary team, mortality should be less than 5% for most patients.
