A member asked:

Can it be no problem to for pregnant woman to get flu shot during her 1st trimester?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Considered safe: The injected flu vaccine is a killed virus preparation and as such poses no risk to the fetus during any stage of pregnancy. The nasal spray is a live weakened virus and should not be used during pregnancy. A flu vaccination is an important precaution because pregnancy brings mom into a high risk group. We lost 2 moms during pregnancy in my town of 125, 000 in the 09 season.
