What sort of disease is a claw toe?

Deformity of the toe: Your toes are bent upward (extension) from the joints at the ball of the foot. Your toes are bent downward (flexion) at the middle joints toward the sole of your shoe. Sometimes your toes also bend downward at the top joints, curling under the foot. Corns may develop over the top of the toe or under the ball of the foot.

Contracted toes: Claw toe is a buckling of the toe(s). The toe is in a "c" shape. Sometimes it can be flexible(you can straighten it out). Other times it can be rigid(won't straighten out). This is a structural deformity. Conservative care consists a taller toebox shoe. Some padding can help with symptoms. Usually surgical straightening is needed if conservative care is not successful.
