Opiate prescription: Opiates can be legitimately prescribed only by licensed physicians for legitimate reasons. Short acting opiates have a high rate or abuse potential and should only be used for acute pain (e.g. After a surgery) for short time imo. They have no role in chronic non-cancer pain and there is abundant literature available to support this opinion. Look at painphysicianjournal.Com for opiate prescription.

You need to: See a pain specialist who will discuss the right drug for your condition. If you have not seem that doctor before, bring all your record with prior diagnosis and treatment modalities attempted by prior physicians. Also all procedures, if any done, to treat the cause of your pain. If this is just to treat an acute episode of pain consult with your primary care doctor.
