Paralyzes breathing: Tetanus makes the muscles contract all at the same time, which is very painful and eventually makes it impossible to breathe. If someone gets tetanus, and it happens because people can't get or refuse immunization, nowadays we can paralyze the patient and put him/her on a ventilator until the disease subsides.
