Tetanus: Tetanus is caused by contamination of wounds by a toxin producing bacteria called colstredium tetani found in the soil. The toxin is the cause of all the symptoms. Prevention of tetanus by routine immunization of children as part of Dtap vaccine, boosters age 11, 16 & every 5 years, pregnant women receive a dose of tdap to protect the new born baby against neonatal tetanus.
