What is a stem cell: Stem cells are immature cells which have not committed themselves to forming one form of mature cell line or specific organ. Research is being done to determine if stem cells can be introduced into damaged or abnormal areas of organs, and develop into normal tissue or organs, or correct a degenerative process.
