Differences: Bipolar disorder is not a personality disorder. It is a mental illness characterized by cycles of mania and depression and is treated with medication. Borderline pd tend to have extreme reactions to things, fear of abandonment, distorted self-image, frequent suicidal thoughts or threats, they may cut on themself to relieve emotional pain. Dialectical behavioral therapy can be helpful.
