How common is it to have ovulation pain before, during and after ovulating?

Mittelschmerz: I am not a gynecologist i know ovuation pain if can occur during and after ovulation. Mittelschmerz may last a few minutes to a few hours or 2 to 3 days. Rarely it can be longer than this. Hopefully, a gynecologist will also address this question to clarify whether the pain can occur before ovulation.
