Donor issues: The donor' surgery is a bit bigger than the recipient's. However, now some centers remove the kidney via a scope. Wound healing is an issue depending on the type of wound. Also, if you have one kidney, you are taking some risk of dialysis if a stone or injury or disease affects the single kidney. However, with meticulous screening of donors, as practiced today, these risks are very small.
