1992: The cdc recommends that anyone who had a blood transfusion before 1992 should be tested for hepatitis c. In the 1970s through 1980s tens of thousands of people were exposed to hcv via contaminated blood transfusions. Some people don't know if they got blood with a procedure. Everyone born between 1945-1965 needs to be tested once for hepatitis c.
