Not clear...: Medicare currently pays for <88%, but the nih is doing a trial to determine if o2 therapy really helps. There is reason to believe it doesn't. One big problem is the perception (by mds and patients alike) that oxygen helps if you are short of breath. It doesn't! shortness of breath or dyspnea have nothing to do with your oxygen level, and treating one will not help the other. Keep that in mind.
