A member asked:

Does menopause cause loss of energy? i'm a few months into induced menopause and have been feeling sluggish.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: I'm assuming you had your ovaries removed. Surgical menopause causes an abrupt loss of estrogen. In turn the body needs to adjust to this as most bodily functions are estrogen dependent and menopausal symptoms are the bodies response to a lack of estrogen. For instance, the sleep cycle is estrogen dependent and therefore sleep is often disrupted. The result is fatigue.
