See your doctor: A Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud is placed in the uterus with the strings protruding through the cervix for later iud removal. An iud is still a foreign body which can alter menstrual flow (usually for the better) & cramping. Ultrasound can check proper position of the iud. Discharge with odor may signify vaginal bacterial infection. See your doctor to evaluate all of the above.
