Not dangerous: Unless there are systemic symptoms, it sounds like it may be recurrent aphthous stomatitis which has many causes and many triggers. Although it has no cure it is not dangerous. Much more rarely, it may be part of a GI syndrome or in combination with genital ulceration may signal behçet's. Tissue biopsy is not necessary unless your pcp suspects squamous carcinoma.
