From arthritis, plantar fasciitis, stress fractures, general foot fatigue, and countless more. Even the time of day the pain comes can help determine why you are having pain. You can ask your pcp for a podiatry referral if the pain continues to worsen.

See a podiatrist...: You can take otc or prescription anti-inflammatories to decrease the discomfort of arthritis, wear cushioned insoles (http://spenco.Com/products/footcare/poly-sorb/cross-trainer) to decrease pressure when walking, or have a surgical procedure to potentially re-align or fuse the joints that are giving you pain. It's impossible to tell for sure without a face-to-face exam.
