Sleep apnea: Is more common than one thinks. Typically not the cause from the agents listed in your question. Best to be evaluated by a ENT or dentist qualified to treat sleep apnea.

Typically not: Sleep apnea is common and can be serious if not treated. Clenching and other dental treatment do not cause apnea. What happens is that your airway collapses and this prevents you from breathing normally during sleep so you gasp for breath. It is best diagnosed by an overnight sleep study. Talk to your doctor about this.

Sleep apnea: Sleep apnea is primarily a result of the tongue falling back during sleep and blocking the air way. The size of the tongue, the position of the upper an lower jaws and excessive weight gain all play a role in sleep apnea.

Possibly: Need more info, but the treatment for the sleep apnea may create or exacerbate tmj/tmd symptoms. If wearing a CPAP machine with tight straps or an ill-fitting mask, the pressure on the lower jaw (mandible) may be displaced or dislocated enough to a position that can cause a dormant tmj/tmd syndrome complex. Also, wearing a mouthpiece for sleep apnea, if not designed properly can cause tmj/tmd.
