Nonsteroidal a no no: Mefenamic acid of Ponstel (mefenamic acid) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agent (nsaid). Use of nsaids in the face of a varicella infection are not recommended as there are studies to show that there is increased risk of severe skin and soft tissue complications (abscesses/ cellulitis). While there is no drug interaction between Acyclovir and nsaids; the fact that you have zoster should preclude its use.
