HSV-1 vs. HSV-2: Most of the general population has hsv-1 which causes cold sores. Hsv-2 is the virus that causes genital herpes, and you may just be lucky in that you have no sores and/or physical symptoms. You may be a "carrier" without active symptoms. You may still transmit the disease, so you need to practice safe sex. Hope this helps.
