Pain: The best medical treatments for trigeminal neuralgia are tegretol, trileptal, Gabapentin and baclofen. Elavil or Cymbalta (duloxetine) may offer some relief, specially if depression occurs. Microvascular decompression and radiofrequency ablation of the trigeminal nerve are successful therapeutic approaches to refractory cases. Approach your physician about a referral to an experienced neurosurgical center.

Some newer: Approaches can include medications such as lyrica, (pregabalin) cymbalta, trileptal, etc, but have witnessed great success with a transcutaneous balloon compression at the foramen. Would seek out a neurosurgeon who has experience with this procedure, and it could be miraculous. Best of luck.
