A member asked:

If my late night snack involves milk, will that help reduce the occurrence of heartburn?

Not most of the time: The calcium in milk may help temporarily decrease heartburn for some women but it will normally come right back in a couple of hours. Also, some pregnant women develop an intolerance of milk products and will feel worse if they have milk. If your heartburn is bad, over-the-counter medications like zantac, (ranitidine) tagamet and Pepcid are all safe during pregnancy.

No snack!: Avoid eating or snacking late night! nothing two hours before you go to bed. Eat light and walk after food. Avoid caffeine and alcohol.
