A member asked:

Is ulcerated colitis and parkinson's disease related so you think? i have both

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possibly: There is some data to suggest that the inflammatory response seen in uc may also play a role in pd. However, more data is needed to make that connection. Interestingly, a study in 2012 showed aggregates of a protein known to induce pd was found in the gut of patients getting colonoscopy and did not have pd at the time. Here is the info for that study: movement disorders may 2012 vol.27 #6:709-1.
