Dry eye: The accessory tear glands of krause and wolfring secrete a baseline aqueous layer, and the main lacrimal gland, in the superolateral portion of the orbit, secretes reflexively to corneal irritation if the tear film is diminished. Use artificial tears to lubricate the ocular surface prophylactically two to four times daily, and as needed for epiphora, overflow tearing. Sunglasses reduce evaporation.
