A member asked:

How much would a 2.5month gut problem such as an infection allowed to run its course, raise cortisol levels?

Not predictable.: Cortisol levels are too variable to be able to begin to predict this. I cannot imagine any clinical scenario under which this might be important.

This sounds tough: A gut infection for 2 1/2 months that did not put u in the hospital and allowed to run its course? Chronic stress of any type can raise cortisol levels, possibly adding to sleep problems and elevated glucose.
