A member asked:

Is it really safe to have transvaginal us in early pregnancy? is there any risk of miscarriage?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Extremely safe: Vaginal ultrasounds are the best type of ultrasound to perform on patients with early pregnancy. Vaginal ultrasounds are closer to the uterus and the pregnancy then abdominal ultrasounds. Ultrasound waves used in your ob/gyn's office are extremely safe. There is no evidence to suggest that they cause miscarriages.
