Usually forever: Gastroparesis is a slowing of the motility of the stomach and therefore a slowing of it's emptying. Often idiopathic (no clear cause), but can be part of disease, such as diabetes, systemic sclerosis, or after gastrectomy. Once nerves to stomach are interrupted, may not return. Suggest: eat 4-5 smaller meals daily, eat slowly, relaxed, chew fully, drink water.Certain meds may help. Consult c GI doc.
